Date: Tue, 28 Jul 1998 14:33:42 -0400 From: AJ Paquette Subject: [FRPG] Money makes the world go 'round... Iya felt somewhat uncomfortable leading Finn around by the hand. She was so unused to being around anyone that she couldn't help but keep glancing at him from the corner of her eye. Making sure that he was for real. They had had an exchange of words earlier during their trip, but now Iya had gone silent again, and Finn couldn't seem to find anything else to talk with her about. Iya bit down on the bottom of her lip with her tiny fangs. Then something hit her. It had troubled her in the past, but she had only now thought to bring it up. "Excuse me Finn?" she spoke softly and stopped walking. "Hmm?" Finn was forced to also stop walking. Iya let go of his hand and began to rummage through the folds of her cloak. "In my time alone, I have come across some strange items. But none are as strange and as frequent as these." she smiled as she found what it was she was looking for and pulled out the pouch of coins. Iya reached into the bag and pulled out one of the coins, "These strange little discs." she held it up to the sunlight, "I do not know their purpose. You cannot eat them, they are too hard to bite and they taste awful." 'What's she talking about?' Finn wondered, "Give them to me." he asked, holding out his hand. Iya dropped the coin back into the pouch and handed it to Finn. While Finn fumbled to get his hand in, Iya spoke again, "Are they weapons? Magical Runes perhaps?" Finn smiled as he felt the small amount of money in the bag, "No, no, they're coins." Iya frowned, "Coins?" "Yeah money. You buy stuff, like food and items with them." Finn extended his hand and waited for Iya to take the bag back. "Money?" Iya took the bag and stared at the coins, "What is 'buy'?" "Well when you want something, you use those coins to 'buy' that something from a person who has it." Finn smiled, but Iya still frowned and looked confused. "Do people not just give you what you need?" Finn smiled again, "It doesn't work that way. No profit then." Iya had no idea what a 'profit' was, but let it slide, "Strange society. I am confused." She reached into the bag again and played with coins with her fingers. "So you take these discs to wizards and they change them into things you need?" Finn sighed. "Well... I suppose that's ONE thing you could do with them... depending on the wizard..." "Strange." she said and tucked the pouch back into her cloak. Feeling satisfied that the mystery of the discs was solved she took hold of Finn's hand and began to walk again. Amanda (The Queen Otaku) qotaku@istar.ca ICQ# 12772767
