Parched and still a little bit confused, she scrambled to her feet and brushed the dirt off of her jeans. She took off her leather jacket and slung it over a shoulder, adjusting the straps of her tank-top to make sure she was relatively decent. There was no way in hell she was walking this road anymore. She could almost make out the carriage for all the dust-- dust that glittered gold in the fading sunlight. The cool shade of the woods had been left far behind-- she had been walking all day. The carriage was slowing. Excitement beginning to show in her eyes, Teri waved the dust away from her face and stood a little farther into the road... it was stopping. "What can I do for ye, miss?" The elderly man said, pulling on the scraggle of white beard that sprouted from his chin. Teri narrowed her eyes in surprise... the way the words seemed to roll of his tongue... it hardly sounded like English. And the feudal-style clothes the man was wearing.. "Are you alright?" he asked, peering through the falling dust. Teri flashed a grateful smile and stepped closer to the wagon. "Oh yes-- I'm so sorry-- the dust.." she coughed delicately. "I was wondering, sir-- is there a town nearby?" The man looked thoughtful... and a little bit suspicious. Teri realized that her clothes and accent must look terribly strange. She hastily put her coat back on and flashed another pleading smile. "Why-- the town of Hicho's only about three miles down the road--" Teri broke into a nearly desperate giggle, "Oh please, could I catch a ride from you? I've been walking all day..." The man nodded and motioned for her to climb up next to him. "I dont' see why not." The wagon reeked of stale potatoes.. Teri tried not to think of the grime and germs covering the seat as they bounced along in a cloud of dust. "Aahh!" she yelped as the man pinched her thigh and giggled to himself. Eyes as wide with offense as eyes could be, she stared him down until his chuckle died off. Her stomach rumbled loudly. This was going to be a very long ride.
