Subj: Wisp's Prolouge Date: 98-05-06 22:57:02 EDT From: YUKIDRAGON There was little time left, he had to escape his perusers before they caught him. They had already gotten his wife, he could not let them get him and his child too. He glanced down at the little girl sleeping peacefully in his arms. If he could just get to the Temple of Light, then they would be ok. He hoped. He quickened his pace as he took a quick look back the way he came. He couldn't see his perusers but he knew that they were still on his trail. The man appeared to be elven, quite hansome in his appearance with his blue eyes and long blue hair, but the blood splattered on his face and clothing marred it. One hand clutched a long sword, which was covered in red and green blood, as the other held a little human girl, who was adroned in ceremonial garb, firmly. His heart filled with hope as he saw the temple lights on the horizon, the glowing spherical lights served as a beakon all the time, wither it was day or night. As he came up to the large oken doors he seethed his sword then pounded on them with all his might. He yelled franticly, "Open the doors! Please someone help us! Hurry!" He stopped pounding after about a minute and looked behind him. He could feel them getting closer, and his yelling most likely alerted them already. There was a light shuffling of feet coming from the inside then the door was unlatched and swung open to reveal an old priest. The old priest regarded the man evenly and asked, "Sir, regular praying hours are-" He paused and squinted his eyes at the man. His eyes widened as her recognised him. "Oh, my! Taiyo, what in the name of the goddess happened to you!?" "There's no time! Let me in!" "Of course, of course!" The priest stepped aside and let Taiyo rush in. "Bolt the door and baracade it quickly!" The priest did as he was told and turned to the half-elf and the girl that was still in his arms. "What's going on Taiyo? Why are you covered in blood? Is your daughter ok? Where is your wife?" Taiyo started shaking as a few tears streeked down his face, and he hugged his daughter tighter. "They killed her." He finally managed to choke out. The priest stood there in silent shock. "No... It's can't be..." The priest finally managed to utter. "They killed her and made Wisp watch. Those bastards made her watch those monsters rip her mother to pieces and eat her!!!" He started shaking and the priest paled. He could not believe what he was hearing. "It can't be true.... It just couldn't." Taiyo was silent for a moment then looked down at the girl he cradelled in his arms before he continued. "I had to knock her unconcious... She refused to leave her mother, even what was left of her." He let out a sob. "I had to fight through them to get to here as quickly as possible. The whole town was in flames..." The priest walked over and placed a hand reassuredly on his shoulder. "I'll be alright. They cannot enter this house of good." He snapped his head up and his face hardened. "Don't be so sure of that. They were able to take down our best mages and priests, including my wife, fairly quickly. I doubt the wards on this place will last long." The priest paled further. "We must hurry and perform the sleep ceremony on my daughter. We can't let her fall into their hands!" As Taiyo started to walk further into the temple the priest rushed in front of him. "You can't do that to her! She's only a small child! She may-" Taiyo shoved the priest aside. "I know what may happen. But I swore I wouldn't let them get my daughter... No matter what." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Deep within the underground catecombs under the Temple the ceremony was performed and Wisp was sealed into a coffin made entirely of crystal until one with a good heart could awaken her. The room that contained the coffin was also sealed away for extra protection. That night the temple was torn apart and burned to the ground by men or creatures of unknown origin. Yet thankfully the catacombs were left untouched as they were not discovered by them. Thousands of years have passed and the temple was rebuilt anew over that very sight. The fate of the old priest and Taiyo to this day is still unknown, as of the child who is still sleeping deep within the secret catacombs, waiting for her parents to awaken her...
